therapy

Therapy is about learning how to deeply listen to the particularity of your own story. It is in the specifics that we find ourselves. Therapy can be a lot of things for a lot of different people: it can feel like a safe haven, a place of exploration, or even a place of deep discomfort as you begin to engage yourself and your experience of life. Expect that in therapy with me, I will bring compassion, curiosity, playfulness, and a desire to bear witness to your experience and life.

I practice from a relational, psychodynamic approach and my influences are varied, but include psychoanalysis, object relations, depth psychology, and Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I practice with an intersectional feminist, anti-oppression, weight neutral lens, and my extensive clinical experience has been infused with Critical Social Theory trainings and a Health at Every Size® philosophy. I welcome clients of all races, ages, sexualities, religions, gender identities, backgrounds, and sizes.

Areas of expertise include...

  • eating disorders or struggles in relationship to food

  • grief

  • trauma and abuse

  • identity development

  • shame resilience

  • issues around race/ethnicity

  • impact of oppression

  • gender and sexuality

creative arts in therapy

With an extensive background in creative writing and fine arts, I love incorporating this into my work as a therapist. I have lead an Art Therapy group twice weekly for over three years, and have worked one-on-one and in groups facilitating therapeutic writing and therapeutic movement workshops since 2010. If you are interested in incorporating creative therapies into your therapy work, please let me know. I'm happy to collaborate on a blend of talk and creative therapy that will bring more depth to our work together.

fees & insurance

Weekly sessions are $155 for 50 minutes.

I do not bill to insurance, but please note that many insurance providers will offer at least partial reimbursement for work with an out-of-network therapist. Clients are responsible for all paperwork and communication with their insurance providers, but I am able to offer receipts upon request.

I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots in my practice for those with financial difficulties that would prevent them from receiving care.

Please note that I have a 48-hour cancellation policy.
