Meet Carter
I graduated cum laude from Colorado College with a Bachelors in Creative Writing and earned a Masters in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology, and am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (#LH60892080) in the State of Washington. I began my clinical experience at The Seattle Therapy Alliance, providing low-cost therapy to women while being trained in the integration of Critical Social Theory and intersectional feminism into psychotherapy. From there, I began growing deep roots at Opal: Food + Body Wisdom, a Seattle-based eating disorder program where I was amazed to find that the creative part of me thrived as it began to play in metaphor again--this time not in the metaphor of poetry or art, but in the metaphors that emerged in my clients' relationship to food and the body.
Though my expertise has been honed in on eating disorders and I still love working with those in recovery, I also very much enjoy working with those in the helping profession (including other therapists, therapists in training, and even those in the restaurant/service industry), expatriates, and artists. But I also just love working with anyone that is seeking more of themselves--more of their grief, their passion, their particularity, their essence.
Beyond therapy, I love studying as much as participating in the creative process; I'm relationally-driven, a huge foodie, a podcast host, and a writer.
